"Every eye in the hospital was filled with tears."

This is what one person recalled after an Ecuadorian woman with five children saw for the first time in many years. Her blindness from cataracts predated the birth of her children and as the surgeon removed the patches from her eyes there was a sense of anticipation. The young mother's look of wonder upon seeing the immediate group - and then those in the distance - is unforgettable. Then, her eye began to search for the faces of her children - asking them to speak so she could recognize them. In amazement, she held face after face in her hands drinking in the sights she thought she would never see.
