The Project Salemata Report

All glory be to the God Most High and thanks to all of you who made this project possible. Our mission team set out to accomplish three objectives: 1) to build a worship center, 2) to dig a water well, 3) and to show and tell the love of Jesus to the people of Salemata. By the help of God, the cooperation of the people and the dedication of the Team, it can truly be said, "Mission accomplished!"

We built a small building but a mansion by comparison to their previous grass roof lean-to house of worship shaded on the left. The construction of this edifice will stand as a monument of hope and will be a treasure house of learning and spiritual nourishment. It is dedicated to be a house of prayer and an educational building where children will learn to read, write, and live as productive citizens of their community.

Well digging is done manually since there are no power tools that are readily available and no electricity to drive them. In the case of the well, the diggers need to break through 3 to 5 feet more of shale to strike water. Lord willing, water will gush forth within a couple of weeks after the team has left the place.

The team also discussed with our missionary Pastor Carlos Santos an agricultural development project where the people can be taught farming technology suitable to their environment and using local resources.
