Here's a great story about how God uses the economic structures of man to further His Kingdom. Recently our partner orphanage in the Amazon (La Aljaba) was experiencing some problems with bats. Much like squirrels and raccoons that get into our attics in the south, bats can take up residence in the attics of homes in the Amazon. So Orphanos took on the project to eradicate the bats and do the necessary renovations to the roof to assure this won't happen again in the near future. Through our friends and donors we raised more than $5,000 for this specific project. But by the time we received the donations, processed them, and then deposited the money into the La Aljaba's checking account, the international exchange rate had moved. Our American Dollars were no longer valued against the Colombian Peso the same. They were MORE, so our orignal money was now worth more in Colombia! What to do with the extra cash? The director of the home, Lucy Palma, decided to not only repair the roof on the affected building, but also every roof on every building of the entire property and replace the water resevoir too! Fluctuations in the exchange rate don't always turn out so well, but we are very pleased this one did. Thank you to each of you who make blessings like this possible.
